Moving from WordPress to React
In short: I don't build WordPress sites. If your WordPress site is slow, doesn't work properly on mobile or depends on lots of plugins, I rebuild it in React and TypeScript. Your content comes with you, and to keep your Google rankings as stable as possible, I set up a 301 redirect for every existing URL. The move runs as a Website Relaunch at a fixed price from €3,800.
When the move pays off
- The site loads slowly and the Core Web Vitals are poor.
- It doesn't work properly on mobile.
- The design is outdated, and every change depends on a theme or plugin.
- You want a fast site without a pile of plugins that a developer can understand and maintain.
When you are better off staying on WordPress
- Your site is fast and up to date, and you edit a lot of content yourself in the WordPress editor every day.
- Your site depends on many plugin features, and rebuilding them is not worth it for you.
If you need editorial content after the move, I connect a headless CMS, so you can keep editing your copy yourself.
What the move costs
| Route | Price | What's included |
|---|---|---|
| Website Relaunch | Price: from €3,800 | What's included: review of your current site, modern redesign, content migration, carrying over SEO signals (redirects, meta data), performance, deployment and handover |
| SMB Website Sprint (a new site instead of a migration) | Price: from €2,800 | What's included: 4–6 pages, responsive, basic SEO and load-time optimisation, contact form, deployment on your domain |
| Website & App Care (optional, afterwards) | Price: from €475 a month | What's included: 5 hours a month, priority response time, monthly status update |
All prices are net, plus applicable VAT. For businesses in other EU countries with a VAT ID, the reverse-charge mechanism usually applies. I set up your domain, hosting and similar services; you pay their running costs yourself.
After our first call you get a fixed price for a clearly defined scope.
How the move works
- First call: in 15 minutes we clarify what your site does today and what it should do. Free and without obligation.
- Review and quote: I look at your WordPress site: content, URLs, forms and integrations. You get a quote with scope, timeline and fixed price.
- Rebuild: design, content and features are rebuilt in React and TypeScript. Forms and integrations are carried over or cleanly rebuilt. I set up a 301 redirect for every old URL and carry over the meta data.
- Switch-over and handover: the new site goes live on your domain. You get the code, access to all systems and a short walkthrough.
Frequently asked questions
- Will I lose my Google rankings?
- Rankings can fluctuate for a while after a move. To keep them as stable as possible, I set up a 301 redirect for every existing URL and carry over the meta data.
- Can you convert my WordPress website to React?
- Yes. I rebuild the site in React and TypeScript, migrate the content and put it live on your domain, with a 301 redirect for every old URL.
- Why is my WordPress website slow to load?
- Common causes are lots of plugins, a heavy theme, large images or slow hosting. I don't optimise the WordPress site itself. My standard is a static React site without plugins or a theme, for maximum performance. Whether the move pays off for you, we clarify in our first call.
- What does a WordPress website redesign cost?
- From €3,800 net as a Website Relaunch, including a review of your current site, content migration and carrying over your SEO signals. If you need new content anyway, a new site in the SMB Website Sprint from €2,800 can be the cheaper route.
- Do you build WordPress websites?
- No. I build websites in React and TypeScript, without page builders or a pile of plugins. A new website is the SMB Website Sprint from €2,800.
- Do you offer a WordPress website care plan?
- No. After the move I can look after the new site with Website & App Care, from €475 a month.
- Can I edit content myself after the move?
- Yes, if you need to: for editorial content I connect a headless CMS.
