Freelancer or agency?
In short: An agency brings a team with several specialists, and if someone is away, a colleague steps in. A freelancer is one direct contact who does the work. For a website, a landing page, a redesign or an MVP with a clear scope, an experienced freelancer is enough for many small businesses. For large projects that need many disciplines at once, an agency is often the better choice.
The comparison
| Freelancer | Agency | |
|---|---|---|
| Contact | Freelancer: the person who does the work | Agency: usually a project manager, the work is done by the team |
| Disciplines | Freelancer: one focus, other specialists by arrangement | Agency: design, copy, development and marketing under one roof |
| Cover | Freelancer: one person: no colleague covers holidays or illness | Agency: a team can step in |
| Coordination | Freelancer: short paths, few people involved | Agency: more people involved, more meetings |
| Price | Freelancer: no mark-up for office, sales and project management | Agency: the team and organisation are part of the price |
When an agency is the better fit
- You need many disciplines at once, such as branding, photography, copy and a campaign from one source.
- Your project is so large that several developers have to work on it at the same time.
- You need contractually guaranteed cover that can step in at any time.
When a freelancer is the better fit
- The scope is clear: a website, a landing page, a redesign, an MVP or specific bug fixes.
- You want to talk directly to the person who builds your project.
- You want to know the cost before you start.
How I work
- Direct: you work with me directly: no agency layers, no account managers.
- AI-assisted, human-reviewed: I use AI tools as a development assistant. Everything that goes live has been reviewed and tested by me, and I stand behind it.
- Fixed price: after our first call you get a quote with a fixed price for a clearly defined scope. The price holds as long as the scope does. If something is added along the way, I tell you the cost first and you decide.
- On site and remote: I work from Paphos. I am happy to meet businesses in Paphos in person, elsewhere in Cyprus by arrangement, and I work remotely with clients in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and worldwide.
- Experience: freelancing for over three years, mostly in React, TypeScript, Python and Node.js.
- Handover: you get the code, access to all systems and a short walkthrough, so another developer can take over at any time.
Packages and pricing
Landing page from €1,400, website with 4–6 pages from €2,800, redesign from €3,800, MVP from €8,500, all prices net.
Frequently asked questions
- Is a freelancer cheaper than an agency?
- It depends on the scope. With me you pay no mark-up for office, sales and project management, and you know the price up front. All prices are on the cost page.
- What happens if you are unavailable?
- I am one person, with no colleagues to step in. That is why you get the code and access to all systems, so another developer can take over at any time.
- Website builder vs web developer: which is better?
- A website builder is cheap and quick if you want to build and maintain a simple site yourself and have the time for it. A web developer is worth it if your site should load fast, work on every device and be found on Google without you building it. I hand-build every site in React and TypeScript, without bloated page builders.
- Do you work with other specialists?
- For SEO-heavy copy I can work with a copywriter on request.
